Of ancient foundation, the church of San Benedetto in Piscinulua boasts Rome's smallest bell tower, which is home to the city's oldest bell (dated 1069).
Interior
The nave is lined with eight diverse ancient columns with equally diverse capitals. The beautiful Cosmatesque pavement has never been restored, which makes it unique in Rome.
St Benedict is said to have lived in the small groin-vaulted cell off the vestibule.
