The beautiful Cappella di San Filippo Neri, also known as the Cappella Antamoro (1708-09), in the church of San Girolamo della Carità, was designed by the Sicilian architect Filippo Juvarra (1678-1736), the only example of his work in Rome.
The sumptuous decoration of the small chapel, which is dedicated to St Philip Neri (1515-95), founder of the Oratorians, was financed by Tommaso Antamoro, as recorded in an inscription on the floor.
The statue of St Philip Neri (1515-95) is the work of the French sculptor Pierre Legros the Younger (1666-1719), who spent most of his working life in Rome.
