The mosaic in the apse of San Teodoro al Palatino dates back to the 6th century. It depicts Christ seated on an orb representing the heavens; above his head is the hand of God the Father. He is flanked by St Paul and St Peter, and two martyrs, St Cleonicus (?) and St Theodore.
