David's tour was the highlight of our trip to Rome
Vanessa & Andy, London
Each day thousands of people flock to the Vatican Museums, leading to long lines without and chronic congestion within.
While it is easy to escape the lines, by booking tickets in advance, it is much harder to avoid the seemingly endless number of tour groups, which choke so many of the rooms and galleries.
One way of making sure the masses are kept to a minimum is to enter shortly before 16.00, after which time there are no further admissions.
As the museums don't actually close until 18.00, this leaves two hours in which to enjoy the fabulous works of art in relative peace and quiet.
