The Fountain of the Catechumens
The fountain in Piazza della Madonna dei Monti is popularly known as the Fontana dei Catecumeni (Fountain of the Catechumens), on account of the proximity of the Collegio dei Catecumeni.
The Fountain of the Catechumens, which was designed by Giacomo della Porta (1532-1602), was commissioned by Pope Sixtus V (r. 1585-90).
