Today marks the centenary of the Marcia su Roma (March on Rome), which changed the course of modern Italian history.
The march was a mass demonstration of members of Benito Mussolini's Partito Nazionale Fascista (PNF), which resulted in his ascent to power.
Three days later, on October 31st, King Vittorio Emanuele III formally appointed Mussolini Prime Minister.
