Santa Maria delle Grazie alle Fornaci was built by Francesco Multò for the Discalced Trinitarians (a Spanish reform of the Trinitarian order), whose monastery was adjacent. The first stone was laid in 1694.
The interior takes the form of a Greek Cross.
High Altar
The altarpiece at the high altar is a much-venerated image of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the work of the 17th century Flemish painter Gilles Hallot. The two statues, either side of the high altar, represent St John de Matha and St Felix di Valois, the founders of the Order of the Trinitarians.
The Holy Trinity and Saints by Onofrio Avellino
The large altarpiece on the right side of the church depicts The Holy Trinity and Saints (1737), the work of the Neapolitan painter Onofrio Avellino (1674-1741). The two saints are St John de Matha and St Felix di Valois.
Altar of the Nazarene
Directly opposite is the Altar of the Nazarene. The painter of the altarpiece is unknown. The two saints are St Agnes and St Catherine of Alexandria.
