Of ancient foundation, Santa Dorotea is an 18th century titular and convent church. It was designed by the architect and surveyor Giambattista Nolli (1701-56), who is buried in the church.
Interior
The frescoes (1931) in the dome, sanctuary and nave vaults depict scenes from the life of St Dorothy as well as Franciscan saints, and are by the Neapolitan painter Gaetano Bocchetti (1888-1990).
Plaque to Giambattista Nolli
There is a plaque to Nolli, the designer of the church, who is much more famous for the map of Rome he created. (See my page: The Nolli Map).
