San Nicola dei Lorenesi is a 17th century national church. It was designed by architect François du Jardin.
San Nicola dei Lorenesi is thought to be the smallest domed church in Rome, although the dome is not visible from the street. The inscription on the facade reads: IN · HONOREM · S · NICOLAI · NATIO · LOTHARINGORVM · F (The nation of Lorraine made this in honour of St Nicholas).

The 18th century decoration of the interior is lusciously ornate.
