The small early-13th century Chiesa dell'Annunziatella is better known as L'Annunziatella or simply Nunziatella. The dedication is to the Virgin Mary under the aspect of her annunciation.
Of ancient foundation, the church was rebuilt in 1220, and most of the fabric dates from this period. In 1640, the church was restored by Cardinal Francesco Barberini, on behalf of the Confraternity of the Gonfalone.
Nave
L'Annunziatella is made up of a single nave and an apse.
Apse
The Baroque decoration of the apse took place during the Barberini restoration. The altarpiece, however, is a fresco of The Annunciation, which is dated 1510 (artist unknown). The altar is crowned by two stucco angels holding a cross within a garland.
Apse
The altarpiece is flanked by two paintings (artist unknown), which are dated 1710. To the left is The Adoration of the Magi and to the right St Dominic Intercedes with Our Lady for the Souls in Purgatory.
