The Villino Ximenes, which was built between 1900 and 1902, was the first flowering of Art Nouveua in Rome. The house was designed by Ernesto Basile and Leonardo Paterna Baldizzi for the Sicilian sculptor Ettore Ximenes (1855-1926), who was responsible for all the decorative details, both inside and out.
