Andrea Bregno (1418-1503), the great Renaissance sculptor-cum-architect, is buried in the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva.
Bregno hailed from Lombardy, but worked in Rome from the 1460s until his death in September, 1503. Bregno's tomb bears references to his work as both sculptor and architect. The portrait bust has been attributed to Luigi Capponi (c.1445-c.1515), one of Bregno's pupils. Comments are closed.
