A large gilded bronze tabernacle (1590) stands on the altar in the centre of the Cappella del SS. Sacramento (Chapel of the Most Holy Sacrament), also known as the Cappella Sistina (Sistine Chapel), in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore.
The exquisite tabernacle, which takes the form of a small temple, is the work of Lodovico Del Duca. The four supporting angels are by Sebastiano Torrigiani. Comments are closed.
