On April 25th 1595, the poet Torquato Tasso (b. 1544) died in Rome. Tasso's most famous work is the epic poem Gerusalemme Liberata. Tasso died in the monastery of Sant' Onofrio al Gianicolo, where he was staying as a guest. Tasso is interred in the church, which boasts two memorials to him. Comments are closed.
