Monastero dell' Oblate March 9th is the feast day of Santa Francesca Romana (St Frances of Rome), the patron saint of car drivers. On March 25th 1433, St Frances (1384-1440) set up the Monastero dell' Oblate, which stands in the shadow of the ancient Theatre of Marcellus. Its plain facade is enlivened by an oval tondo of St Frances and her Guardian Angel (1756), the work of Andrea Bergondi. St Frances of Rome is buried in the church of Santa Francesca Romana.
