March 9th is the feast day of Santa Francesca Romana (St Frances of Rome), the patron saint of car drivers. The plain and sober exterior of the convent of Santa Maria Annunziata a Tor de’ Specchi, which stands in the shadow of the ancient Theatre of Marcellus, is enlivened by an oval tondo of St Frances of Rome and her Guardian Angel (1756), the work of Andrea Bergondi.
