June 21st is the Feast Day of St Aloysius Gonzaga.
Aloysius de Gonzaga (1568-1591), who was born into a cadet branch of the illustrious House of Gonzaga, was a member of the Society of Jesus. He died, while still a student at the Roman College, caring for the victims of a serious epidemic. He is buried in the Jesuit church of Sant' Ignazio di Loyola. Aloysius Gonzaga, who was beatified in 1605, and canonised in 1726, is the patron saint of students. Comments are closed.
