Via del Lago Terrione, 77/79 The Russian Orthodox church of St Catherine the Martyr, which stands in the grounds of the Russian embassy to the Holy See, was consecrated on May 24th, 2009. The idea of building a Russian Orthodox church in the Eternal City goes back to the end of the 19th century, but the Bolshevik revolution, in 1917, thwarted the plan, which wasn't revived until the 1990s.
