On May 3rd 1719, the French sculptor Pierre Le Gros the Younger (b. 1666) died in Rome, where he had spent much of his working life. For two decades, Le Gros was the pre-eminent sculptor in the Eternal City. He is interred in the church of San Luigi dei Francesi. Comments are closed.
