On March 28th 1701, Domenico Guidi, one of the great Baroque sculptors, died in Rome.
Guidi was born in Carrara in 1625. He arrived in Rome in 1648 to study under Alessandro Algardi (1598-1654). Following the death of Gianlorenzo Bernini in 1680, Guidi and Ercole Ferrata (1610-86) became the two principal sculptors in the Eternal City. Comments are closed.
