On January 30th 58 BCE, Livia Drusilla Claudia was born in Rome. As the third wife of the emperor Augustus (r. 27 BCE - 14 CE), Livia would become the first empress of Rome. Livia was also the mother of Rome's second emperor, Tiberius (r. 14-37), and the grandmother of its fourth, Claudius (r. 41-54). Livia died on September 28th 29 CE, at the grand old age of eighty-seven. Comments are closed.
