On August 2nd 47 BCE, Julius Caesar won a swift and decisive victory at the battle of Zela, sending his famous report: 'Veni, Vidi, Vici (I came, I saw, I conquered) to the senate in Rome. Caesar crushed the forces of Pharnaces II of Pontus near the modern-day town of Zile in northern Turkey. Comments are closed.
