January 28th is the feast day of St Thomas Aquinas, Dominican friar and the patron saint of academics. St Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225-74), also known as Doctor Angelicus, was canonised by Pope John XXII (r. 1316-34) on July 18th 1323. St Thomas appears in a 19th century stained glass window in the Dominican church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva. Comments are closed.
