Via del Corso On November 16th 1729, the Roman architect and engraver Alessandro Specchi (b. 1666) died in his native city. Alessandro Specchi designed the Palazzo de Carolis on Via del Corso. The palace became the property of the Banco di Roma, who, in 1980, erected a plaque to mark the 100th anniversary of its foundation. The plaque also recalls the architect of the palazzo.
