On May 10th 1702, the painter, architect and sculptor Antonio Gherardi (b. 1638, Rieti) died in Rome. One of Gherardi's most stunning works is the cupola of the Avila Chapel in the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere. Gherardi also painted the ceiling of the church of Santa Maria in Trivio.
