The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, in the church of San Carlo al Corso, may look as if it hails from the Baroque age. It was, in fact, built in the 1920s!
The chapel was designed by the Roman architect Cesare Bazzani (1873-1939) and completed in 1929 to celebrate the the fiftieth anniversary of the ordination into the priesthood of Pope Pius XI (r. 1922-39). As Achille Ratti, the pope celebrated his first mass in this church. Comments are closed.
