Pincian hill On February 1st 1839, the Roman architect Giuseppe Valadier (b. 1762) died in the city of his birth. One of Valadier's many achievements was his redesign of Piazza del Popolo. The fine bust of Valadier on the Pincian hill is the work of the sculptor Luigi Majoli (1819-97). The house in Via del Babuino in which Valadier lived and died is marked with a plaque.
