The central door (1929-31) of the church of San Paolo fuori le Mura (St Paul Outside the Walls) is made of bronze with inlaid silver. It is the work of the Roman sculptor Antonio Maraini (1886-1963).
The bronze reliefs depict scenes from the lives of St Peter and St Paul. The cross of inlaid silver has symbols of the four evangelists on the horizontal bar and heads of the twelve apostles on the vertical bar. Comments are closed.
