The bell-tower of the church of San Paolo fuori le Mura was designed by the architect Luigi Poletti (1792-1869).
Although the old bell tower had survived the disastrous fire that destroyed much of the church in 1823, it was decided it should be replaced. The bell tower has been criticised, in some quarters, for looking like a lighthouse! Comments are closed.
