On April 2nd 1709, the celebrated Baroque painter Giovanni Battista Gaulli, better known as il Baciccio, died in Rome. 

Il Baciccio is, perhaps, most famous for his dramatic painting of the ceiling in the nave of the Chiesa del Gesu.
