April 29th is the Feast Day of St Peter Martyr, also known as St Peter of Verona (1205-52). Peter of Verona, a Dominican friar, was killed by an assassin on April 29th 1252. Less than a year later, on March 9th 1253, he was made a saint by Pope Innocent IV (r. 1243-54), making his the quickest canonisation in history.
